3G Extender with iPhone 6 - Won't work

The old network extender won't connect to either of our iPhone 6's anymore, even if I turn off the LTE Voice. All lights are blue, and the iPhone 5 that we have still works fine. Is the newer 4G extender any better, or a waste of my money? Any trade-up deals fpr switching?

When did you first notice the phones were not connecting to the network extender? Do you recall making any changes to the phones (new apps/software updates)?
