Verizon staff scratched my phone when setting it up.

I am not happy. I knew before buying the Pixel XL that that the back glass scratched easily but the other top phones also do. When I went to pick up my new phone that I was buying outright for $830(with tax), the staff member unwrapped it and put it on the table right away. She then took it to another table and put it down on that table to transfer photos. As soon as I got the phone home I checked it over. The top corner of the back glass was already scratched. I never set it down on anything. I just went back to the store and was told there was nothing they could do because I bought the phone outright. So I pay $830 right away instead of stretching it out over 2 years and I get my phone scratched? I will never let another Verizon team member handle one of my phones.

I'm sorry, but you waited until you were home before you "checked it over"? I'm not saying that the staff did or didn't scratch the phone, but you can understand my skepticism (and likely the store reps' on your return visit) if you were at the store with the device and never looked it over before taking it home. It just seems suspicious that the device was fine all the way up until you got it home, then it wasn't in acceptable condition and was the store rep's fault.....

I never set it down on a hard surface. It was right into the box from the store. The staff had it on and off the tables in the store. It was definitely not me. I do not spend this much money and just toss the phone around right away. I didn't go back right away because I was debating if I should or not. I don't usually complain but this was a lot of money and I didn't get the chance to keep the phone in perfect condition.

I am not saying you or the store did this as I wasn't there and didn't see it. When it comes to any purchase (and specifically with regard to cosmetic issues) it is up to you to do a visual inspection of product before taking said product into your possession. You are essentially agreeing that the product is in acceptable condition when you do, and can't claim later that the store/rep did something to it and that you just didn't notice. You CAN make this claim, however it just doesn't hold a lot of weight for this reason. Sorry, that is the way I see it and most likely the way the store saw it as well....

Awesome. It's my fault for trying to be nice and not looking something over right in front of someone. I'm hoping to for a Verizon response.

Unfortunately since you didn't mark your post as a question, it is highly unlikely that a VZW rep will ever see or reply to this discussion thread.

Personally I would have returned the phone and exchanged it for a different one. I also wouldn't have let the sales reps transfer my information from the old phone to the new phone at the store. I would have waited until I was home to transfer everything. If you were trading in another device at the same time, I would have prepared before the visit to have everything backed up and still handled the transfer of data myself.
