When I call for usage information, the announcement declares that a "Free Text Message is being sent to your device with this information". I NEVER get a text! ??

Log into My Verizon and you get your usage info you wanted.
This certainly gives the info... but not really the point: WHY doesn't the Verizon reply work? It does for other folks that I know.

Knowing what your usage looks like is always a good idea, so let's check that out. The text messages that these specific codes would trigger (#BAL, #DATA, #UPG, etc) are now tied to the My Verizon mobile app. If signed in to My Verizon mobile on your smartphone, you would be brought to the corresponding page in the app to get a wider amount of information than anything a text could have shown. What device are you using? What code are you texting or dialing?

Yes, I know how to get the info via the web or thru the app. I'm just curious about why the automated reply fails to do what it says!

To answer your questions, I call the services listed in
Settings/Phone/Verizon Services. (iPhone IOS version 10.3.3, Carrier
Verizon 28.4). There are 6 numbers listed: 1. Call Forwarding disable; 2.
Directory Assistance; 3. Check Bill Balance; 4. Pay my bill; 5. View My
Minutes; 6. View My Data. It's interesting that when I request the item
number 5 (View My Minutes), I DO get the text message; but not when
requesting the item "View My Data".
There are 2 lines on the account and I believe my wife has the primary
phone. That number is [removed]
