Rss Feeds on Samsung Continuum not working after Verizon Update

I have been wondering for awhile why my Samsung Continuum will not recieve Rss feeds when I subscribe to them. I have read very little on why or how to fix this. This sucks as those Rss feeds are really useful. My bro's and my phone (both the same phone) have this problem. I have not reset my phone. Anything would be appreciated!

Same here! Since the DL17 update, SNS/RSS fees no longer work. C'mon Verizon! For what you charge us, things must run smoothly!!! Promptly send OTA update to fix this issue, and others, as well as Android 2.2!!

I'm having this same problem. Any word on if a patch is coming? I would be happy with Verizon just admitting their update was worthless and gave us an update letting us know they are actually aware of the issue rather than saying they dont know whats going on and offer to replace a perfectly good phone because they wont listen to their customers. Simlar to what raphana said...for what we pay they could have atleast tested the update before putting it live!

Well this is strange. My brother's phone magically started to receive RSS feeds once again. All is well with his phone but mine is still the same. I decided to do a factory reset on my phone. RSS feeds started to work again but only for about a day. Now I am getting a service connection not ready message when I try to subscribe to some of the preloaded RSS feeds on my phone. Now I have no idea what to do.

Same problem - RSS feeds stopped working. Did a factory reset---which is hugely timeconsuming btw---and now they seem to be working again, at least for the moment.

Same problem on two phones in my household: No RSS feeds since Februrary 1st.

Just as a previous user noted - my rss feeds worked for about a day after the reset but are not working now. Worked fine prior to Samsung update.

I noticed this evening that I had received RSS feeds on one of the two Continuums in the household. The first feed one had a time stamp of 1:24 am CST (Feb 10, 2011). I have no explanation for the improved behavior.

The other phone is still not receiving any RSS feeds

My phone magically started to receive RSS feeds again. It still sometimes have a connection error but after I turn my phone off and then turn it on,it starts to work agai. Strange...

same thing happend with my phone the same day you posted it was working for you - problem is - it hasnt done anything since that day. Which means its something with verizons service not totally with the update. It'd be nice if they'd fix. I'm starting to get fed up with Verizon and their 'we're better than all other cell phone companies so we can overcharge'

What's really upsetting is when their employees make mistakes and they arent willing to right the wrongs...I really hope things change before my contracts are up for their sake or I'll be taking my biz elsewhere. (not that my $400 is going to make or break them but still)

My wife's continuum started receiving RSS feeds today. These were the first for her since about Feb. 1. Interesting that she lost access to a book on Amazon Kindle for Droid about the same time. May be mere co-incidence.

Well another update. Unfortunately, I stopped receiving RSS feeds once again. This is just plain uncalled for. This is a software problem and nothing is being done. I have contacted Verizon on the 9 of this month and no response. I'm gonna try again but in the meantime does anybody else have any updates on their problem

My wife and I both have the Continuum and we have had the same problems since Feb 1. Talked with Verizon and they said they were aware and the new software update would take care of it. Well the new software update several days ago took care of it for about 1 day then it was back to no RSS feeds and now I don't even show any RSS feeds to choose from. Can't even get the user entered RSS feeds to work. This is getting very frustrating.

Is this all with the stock rss app? I've been using RssDemon from the market and it's perfect. Many viewing options and configuration choices that most stock apps don't have.

Thats not the point. The point is we pay all this money to verizon and they promise all these features and then screw them up with a software update all the while refusing to say they messed up or any timeline of when it'll be fixed. The rss feeds on the ticker is the main reason I was talked into getting this phone...glad to know verizon gives a **bleep** about their customers.

I don't disagree. Stock apps should be a priority for bug fixes. Anyhow, was just giving you a great alternative to use in the interim.

I do apologize for coming off like my post was aimed towards you. I'm just super frustrated that the guy at the verizon store talked me into this phone and a week later the update comes out and disables the feature that I bought the phone for. Im also to lazy to install a 3rd party rss app lol. Again it wasnt aimed at you...just not happy with vzw at all the last year of service.

My Samsung Continuum's RSS feed/ticker feature continues to work intermittently. The feature worked 4/27 to 5/2, but nothing has come through since then.

My RSS feeds haven't been working on my Continuum since July, been using RSS Demon instead. Is there any way to fix this Verizon?

Thank you to the community for all your replies.

I feel your pain when a stock application doesn't work or works intermittently. My brother also has this device and has great success with the third party Rss feed application.

I know that is a temporary fix and we all want a complete fix. We are aware of the issue and I've contacted our Product Investigative Team who informed me, they are working with Samsung to resolve this. We will post as soon as we get a resolution.

I know this is probably a dead thread but I have fixed this problem on my dad's phone. I am a Sprint customer but my dad and his wife have Continuum's. The problem is with the wifi being enabled while trying to access the ticker feeds. Apparently because it is a built in feature it must be phone number specific. When you have a good mobile data(not wifi) signal try and refresh your rss feeds. This would explain why some people say it works one day but not another. They are on 3g one day and it works fine then while on a wifi signal it will not work. This at least solved my Dad's problem and he has the froyo update. Hope this helps.
