Samsung Network Extender

Despite living in Denver we have had scratchy 1-bar service for years. It was confirmed by Verizon that we live on the outer edge of cell tower service and it wouldn't get better unless Verizon builds a tower closer. A tech person suggested purchasing a Samsung Network Extender (SCS-2U01) for $249.99.

Would this investment solve the problem?

I can confirm that they do generally work very well as they create a signal as opposed to just boosting a signal. As long as you have a high speed internet connection, this would probably help in your situation immensely.

The standard return policy applies as well so you would have 14 days to make sure it was going to work for you, anyhow.

Hopefully this helps, but I would say try it out as it can only increase your service/signal strength and in the event it doesn't for some reason, you aren't stuck with it and can return within the 14 days :smileyhappy:

I wouldn't bother with the 3G Network Extender unless you don't have phones that support 4G/LTE. The 4G/LTE version is much better, with the exception of 2 problems that are serious:

1. You cannot limit the users on the 4G/LTE Network Extender like you could with the 3G version. There's nothing stopping your neighbors from using your Network Extender, other than not being in range. This can cause you to get bumped off your own Network Extender if too many neighbors are using it. In any case, you're paying for the internet that it needs, and the internet that you pay for is being used to give your neighbors better Verizon service. So you're paying twice for the Verizon service that you should already be getting.

2. If your Network Extender (the 4G/LTE model) suffers an internet disconnect (for any reason), the Extender will not automatically restart when your internet service comes back on. It'll sit there with "Out of Service" showing on the display. So, if this happens, for example, when you're not there, the people at your house are just out of luck. Any Network Extender should restart when if it possibly can.

Other than that, the 4G/LTE Network Extender works well for me. Those are two big problems though, neither of which Verizon has chosen to address.
