Message+ App won't clear badge number

I just switched to the iPhone X and I'm using the Verizon message+ app.  It shows I don't have any messages until I get a new text, then it says I have 14,355 new texts?!?  Once I read the new text the number count disappears then the exact same thing happens when I get another new text. Not sure what to do?

Yikes! That's quite a significant difference in your new message count, Erinck33. I'm sure we'll get a way to keep that notification number to reflect your true new message count. When you activated Message+ onto your new phone, did you chose the option to restore your message history to the new phone? Within the Message+ application, do you see any conversations in the history reflected in a bold font or with any message count next to the conversation itself? What model device did you move from?
