I am constantly having to reset my router. I am doing so several times a day. Do I need a new router
What are you experiencing that is making you resetting the router? What brand of router is it? Check and see if the router has an software update for it.
What make / model router? Is this a device offered through Verizon?
Yes, visit the website of the manufacturer. You'll be looking for "firmware download".
Is your router overheating? Is anything blocking ventilation? Lint perhaps?
My router (Linksys) was causing me trouble. My computer or tablet would disconnect every now and then. I did some Googling, and there was a recommendation to disable IPV6.
I updated Firmware, and I disabled IPV6, and I haven't have those problems.
It is amazing how many times it is just that IPV6 being enable that can cause so many different problems.
channels seem to do that also. down load mynetlyzer and see what channel you should put your router to.
Good point, don't compete with another WiFi access point. Try to move your router onto a channel that's least used.
On a PC, I like using a program like netstumbler.
On my phone, I like WiFi Analyzer
NetStumbler 0.4 was the defacto mainstream standard until InSSIDer showed up ten years ago. You can still find the free version 3.1.2.1, but you have to run it through VirusTotal after downloading to make sure it doesn't have malware.
If you are using Netgear Router then here you can Netgear Wifi Extender Setup for the reset your router.
