My iphone6 does not ring with incoming call (including friends and strangers), but it rings when my family call.
Do you have any priority overrides for do not disturb setup?
Getting alerts when you receive a call is important and we want you to have a working phone. On your phone if you go to contacts then groups do you have a group created?
