How do i add a phone? Duh..

Hello .. sounds dumb but .. I have a plan with a phone number and mifi hotspot. I have never used phone as I did not have one .. just hotspot for chromebook while on the run .. daily. I just signed into unlimited data plan and it includes unlimited talk and text for 80 bucks. So ... how do I go about adding a phone? I don't need anything fancy .. been using tracfone. Am I understanding it right that I can have one phone on this plan plus the hotspot? Do I get an unlocked phone and call for a sim card? I know I can call CS but I hate that route. thanks in advance.

My own account. I have never had a phone on it though .. just a hotspot.

Customer Service doesn't have the ability to add lines anyway, that's Telesales.

If your goal is to maintain the hotspot on unlimited, the phone is going to take over the bulk of your bill.

Regardless of which unlimited tier you go, the Mifi will drop to $20 as a connected device. The phone line will range between $80 - $100 based on Go Unlimited, Beyond Unlimited or Above Unlimited. Cheapest would be Go Unlimited which puts you at $100 before tax.

If the plan covers unlimited talk and text wouldn't I already be covered for the phone? I was assigned a phone number? It says Mix and Match unlimited .. for plan name.

Each device on an account need a phone number assigned, depending on services related.

You might also be able to replace your MiFi device with a smartphone which could provide the same service along with phone service on the current number. What make/model MiFi device do you have?

Mrwalleye, let's work through the best options to get a phone on your account. From what you said, it sounds like you have an internet-only MiFi device. This device would get a number assigned to it. This phone number is what helps identify it to the network and towers.

Do you have an additional phone number on your account? If you don't, like jav6 suggested, you could swap the MiFi with a smartphone. If you have a second phone number on your account, you can buy one from us (or bring one) and activate it on that line. https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/

Hogwash ... I just changed my plan, you quoted $83 ... now I get my bill and it is $120? for unlimited. I am trying to contact you via the numbers available and because I have NO phone on this account and I am using my tracfone to call you ... the numbers I have called are kicking me back to the tracfone customer service ...???
