13 GB of hotspot data in 1 day????

We use a Verizon hotspot and in 1 day it says we have already used 13 GB! We do not stream movies or music. We mainly check email and look at facebook. How can that use up all if my data? And according to the data usage info on my device its showing almost 4 GB being used between 12 Am and 3 Am. Its just me and my husband and we are both asleep at that time! How can it use 4 GB if no one is on?

Assuming you use a computer it could be Windows updates or other programs updating. Verizon is not mysteriously adding data

4GB of data is nothing on a real internet connection. Also Facebook is atrocious at data usage and is as bad as streaming video.

We definitely understand how concerning it can be to see that 13GB of data were used on your hotspot in 1 day especially since this usage happened during late hours when you were not actually using your devices. We would like to get additional information in order to find the root cause for this unusual usage. What devices are usually connected to your hotspot at this time of the day? Also, do you know if any of these device have recently been updated? Do you know if any of these devices were backed up recently?

We both have smart phones, iPads and laptops that are connected. Laptops are turned off at night. The phones and iPads sometimes update during night hours but I wouldn't think it would be every night. My husband sometimes browses facebook a little during the day, I work and then browse facebook between 4 pm and 9 pm. But we never watch movies or download movies. It just seems out 15GB plan is worthless.
