Samsung 3G Range Extender Gives Wrong GPS Location

Well, it's happened again. My range extender is showing my GPS location as 84 miles SE of where I actually live.

When the range extender is off, and I'm only connected to my in-home wifi, my location is totally accurate.

The range extender is located next to a window *and* I use the GPS antenna attached to the inside of the window.

As I live on a semi-rural island in North Puget Sound there is no cell signal in my area so the range extender is my lifeline. Location inaccuracy is a huge problem since my Verizon phone is my only phone. If I unplug the range extender I have no signal. With this issue if I were to call 911 it would show me as being 84 miles away from my actual location. This is a potentially dangerous, and serious problem - and also a legal one for Verizon, since the FCC requires 911 GPS accuracy within 50 meters.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Julia, it is definitely a frustrating situation to know that the GPS service is not working correctly on your Network Extender. It is important that your service works correctly so you can get the most out of your Verizon service. To be sure we are on the same page and offer the best resolution, tell us more, when did you start noticing this issues with the GPS? Where are you able to see that your GPS location is 84 miles SE of the actual location?

It started happening after a power outage. When the power came back on after about 3 hours the GPS was wrong. All I have to do is open any app that uses GPS to determine my location, such as Google maps, or The Weather Channel and they all show me as being approx 84 miles SE of where my home is. I live on Camano Island, WA and my location shows me in Maple Valley, WA.

I appreciate the added details, JuliaGee. Other then the issue with the GPS, is anything else being affected on the phone when connected to the Network Extender? Have you tried resetting the Network Extender? Do you have other devices connected to the Network Extender that is also having the GPS affected?
