Degradation of signal strength.....Could it be the phone?

My phone use to have 4G constantly, now it only reaches that when I'm in town. At my son's house, where it use to work perfectly, calls are dropped or no one hears you. Same with my daughter who lives closer in town. I haven't purchased a new phone in a few years, and really hate to have to do that if the phone isn't the issue.

If I haven't moved my home, what can I do?

Started happening about 8 or 9 months ago. We haven't moved, nor has my son. Started noticing I was dropping calls before hearing rings. Then noticed that the 4G was rarely ever showing, sometimes 3G but few bars. And that's at my house. At my son's house, 4 miles away, even if I have a few bars no one hears me when I answer and if I call out it drops. I've tried being next to windows and going outside but that hasn't helped. I actually switched to Verizon some years ago because I started having bad coverage with another phone vendor. The coverage was wonderful and consistent until the last year.

and coverage is getting worse. Tonight the text messenging app has a stop sign with an up and down arrow over it. It says I can't send group texts or sync any devices unless I'm connect to the internet. Double checked my data availability and it's 2+gb. Anyone have any help or advice?

I finally took the phone into the local store. They replaced the SIM card and since I have a protection plan if this doesn't work, the phone will be replaced. So far, some of the issues have been solved but the 4G is still hit and miss.
