Wifi? Data?

Looking at my bill, I notice that after 15gb my data serve will slow down. I use a jet pack for WiFi for tablet and laptop. I pay for unlimited service $125. 1 phone only gets calls. 1 smartphone and 1 jet pack . What's going on? And what's the difference in data and wifi. When I use smartphone I go threw my jet pack wifi. But bill says data usage. Thanks

Got it, wifi and data are the same. But why should service slow down when paying for unlimited?

Look at the terms of the plan. I assume you have Beyond Unlimited. It states that you get 15 GB of hotspot then the hotspot is slowed to up to 600 kbps. For the record your smartphone also get 15 GB hotspot. So actually you have 30 GB. After 22 GB total use( includes hotpot on your phone but NOT the jetpack ) your phone data MAY be slowed down I time of congestion. If your area is not congested you won't notice any changes. Mobile is not meant to be a home internet replacement. Also don't use your jetpack data on your smartphone. Why would you do that?

marlies2n, I can certainly understand your concern in regard to your data speeds slowing down at a certain point, and I will be happy to explain. With certain unlimited plans such as our legacy New Verizon Unlimited along with our Beyond Unlimited plans, you are given 15GB of 4G LTE mobile hotspot data speeds before being reduced to 600Kbps until the end of your current cycle. You can purchase a Data Boost on a line to get 5 GB more of 4G LTE speeds for Mobile Hotspot to use until the end of your bill cycle. It would be recommended to use the data directly that is provided to you on your mobile device instead of using the Jetpack for your internet source. The reason for this is that if your Jetpack and mobile device are on the same account, you are using the same data bucket that is given to you each month. The Jetpack is typically used for devices such as laptops, tablets and etc that are not connected to the same account that needs internet access.
