Is this download speed acceptable between 3 and 6pm?

it averages anywhere from .11 to .47? Sometimes I may hit .80. I know they throttle but i cant load a webpage barely. I have used 75 gb of data so far this month and I am sure I am being throttled, however this is ridiculous. Mornings and evenings are acceptable at 20.0-30.0 Mbps. I am a volunteer firefighter and worried my phone may not work at a time that is needed.

Not sure if this makes a difference but my bars go down to 1 or maybe 2 during that time. Mornings, I have almost a full row of bars. I am in the same place (work) every day when this happens.

A) they don't throttle That time of day a lot of people are on the network. You do get mobile data is SHARED resource.

You didn't state what plan you are on. If you are on Go Unlimited you'll need to bump up to Beyond Unlimited or find a new carrier. Also congestion will not have any affect on your phone's ability to make or receive calls.

Thank you for your response. I am on the beyond unlimited. Do you think a cell signal booster would help the situation since my bars drop so low during that time?

Bars really do not have anything to do with speed. You can have 5 bars and during congestion you'll be slow. if you use 125 GB then you need to get Above unlimited which will give you 75 GB before deprioritization which is NOT throttling by the way.

If you are on BeyondUnlimited and only are seeing a change in your data speed between the hours of 3 and 6 PM after you have already used 75 GB this month, you are obviously being re-prioritized during those hours due to the congestion on the tower(s) you are using. That is the limitation of the plan. Increasing your plan would not matter much as you would STILL be getting re-prioritization on the AboveUnlimited plan after 75 GB of data usage.

he said he uses 125 GB a month

C) Beyond depri level is 22 GB not 75 GB

D) Changing to Above WILL help because instead of getting depri on ALL 125 GB on Go or 103 GB on Beyond they will only be subject to depri on 50 GB. 40% depri is better than 82% or 100% depri

Is busy traffic depended to the tower your connected to? The closest tower to my work is located in our downtown area. Kids get out of school and people done work usually around that timeframe. Boringusername, do you think it would be worth upgrading the plan In your opinion? I top out usually around 125gb per month. Do you know if I upgrade, can I easily switch back if I don't notice much of a difference?

Possibly I am reading a different thread than you, but the only mention I see of 125 GB PRIOR to my reply is in YOUR post. The OP only mentioned 125 GB AFTER I had already posted, so there is no way I would have known.

I am aware of this, but he would still be experiencing re-prioritization right now since he has ALREADY used 75 GB of data this month.

This would be a matter of opinion which the OP would have to determine. For me, it would not be worth the extra cost if I were able to use that much data in a month and only experience re-prioritization for 3 hours a day. Your opinion is obviously different than mine.

Yes, if you are being re-prioritized on a congested tower and switch towers to one which is not currently congested your speed would go back to normal.

You can switch back as long as the plan is still available. As far as I know, BeyondUnlimited is not going anywhere soon.

Let have fun with math. 125 GB a month that's4 GB a day average. Let s say that is consistent.

Go Unlimited depri starting day 1

Beyond depri stating day 6

Above depri starting day 19.

Hmmmmm. So yes not having to worry about depri for 18 days out the month might be worth $20 a month
