Access existing Android music library from Itunes

I've seen a few very old threads about this but no definitive answer. I signed up for the 6 month trial of Apple Music. I have a Note 8 with an extensive music collection of MP3s on the SD card. How do I tell Apple Music to recognize those files. I think maybe I have to move the files to a different directory on the SD that Apple music knows about because I can' see and option to tell Apple Music where to look? If so, where is that directory.
