My son cannot call me - call goes only to my voicemail

My son has an Iphone 11, I have an iphone 8. Both on the same Verizon family plan. He cannot call or Facetime me. The call goes to voicemail, even if the two phones are next to each other at the time of the call. He can text me. His number is not blocked or filtered.

We understand the importance of being able to receive your son's phone calls Alexandn2. We are happy to help. When did the issue begin? Are you able to call your son without any issues? Are you using the same Apple ID on both devices?

In the end i had to add my sons number to an exception list in the Verizon spam blocker app. That seemed to solve it, even though my sons number was not in the list of blocked numbers. So that app appears to have issues.
