When a deal is too good to be true???

Hello. I just upgraded on Verizon from a IPhone 6plus (very fine condition)?to Promax 12. I didn’t absolutely need a new phone. The reason I traded in was that I was told by a sales person that I would get paid $579 for my phone as long as no cracked bodyp, battery not leaking and it could be turned off and a couple other criteria. I thought it seemed too good to pass by.

Does anyone have a successful experience with the above scenario?. I am second-guessing this situation. I really don’t know why Verizon would pay $ 579 dollars when Best Buy would offer me $70.00 for my 6plus. I am hoping I wasn’t lied to just to sell a phone because I would then have to find a different service if this were the case. I have been with Verizon foreve.

I guess I’d like to be hopeful and that is why I am requesting other’s experience.

Yes, it was too good to be true.

The offer Best Buy gave you is about right for that phone. And they are honest in their dealings. DO NOT believe the price that Verizon gave you. Reps are credited for phones sold and new plan agreements. Also, NEVER send a phone to Verizon on a trade. As documented in this forum, phones are often unaccounted for even with UPS verification of receipt. And the true trade price is never what was verbally quoted. Also, sales reps are not held accountable for anything they tell a customer in order to make a sale.

Two years ago Verizon offered $335 for my wife's iPhone 7Plus on a trade. We went to a Verizon store and they told us to send it in. I said no, as they either "get lost" or the price offered is always much lower. They gave us the $335 credit on the spot and we bought a new iPhone X.

Please check other posts in this forum regarding lost trade-ins and quoted prices not honored. Unfortunately you may not be able to reverse your trade and purchase at this point.
