Weak signal strength in Raleigh

The last several weeks the Verizon signal strength in and around NCSU and greater downtown Raleigh has been terrible. I have no bars for blocks and blocks as I travel through town. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Feedback from Verizon is appreciated.
