Do you have the Verizon Cloud app on your phone? Are you configured to save more than contacts to the Verizon Cloud, e.g. upgraded to Verizon Cloud Premium? Login in to MyVerizon and search for 'Verizon Cloud' for info. Also, in the Verizon Cloud app on my Android, Settings has a 'How to Disable' option which says go to Settings->Application Manager'->Cloud app->Tap Disable.
