Deliver Failure message

All of a sudden when I was texting another person who is also on verizon, it started telling me, "Delivery Failed : (invalid destination or service blocked at destination.)"  ...What does that mean exactly? They possibly turned their phone off so now nothing is going through??

Invalid destination means the phone number is wrong - though that doesn't seem likely if you have been sending messages successfully.

Service blocked means just that - perhaps your number has been blocked from sending messages?

If the receiving phone was turned off, you would not get a notification, it would simply be delivered once the phone was turned on again.
