VPN wont' work on AC30 Fivespot Network

I purchased AC30 Fivespot b/c I travel a lot and have to connect through VPN to get my office E-mail.  Half the time can't get VPN to work on hotel networks - don't know why, Cisco application and just won't load.  Set up the network on my home laptop and the office laptop I take with me on trips accesses the network to get on the internet just fine.  But CISCO VPN won't load.  Is this a bandwidth problem - do I have a low-rent subscription and just don't realize it?  Or does it have something to do with having a floating IP address that isn't being transmitted to the VPN program.  I'm going to not keep this network if I can't get VPN to work on my office laptop.

Try these troubleshooting steps:

 

The Fivespot needs to be manually powered off then powered on in order to switch between USB and Wi-Fi connection modes. When the Fivespot is powered on after connecting with the computer, it will be in USB mode. When the Fivespot is powered on without connecting to the computer, it will be in Wi-Fi mode.

 

30 feet is average maximum range for users to connect to 3G Mobile Hotspot.

The Fivespot supports 802.11 b/g connections with WPA-TKIP, WPA2-AES, and WEP encryption levels; the default from the factory is set to WPA. The hotspot's Web-based administration page can be accessed at 192.168.0.1. It offers plenty of configuration options, including basic SSID name and encryption level, to more advanced firewall settings such as MAC address filtering, port forwarding, and DHCP lease times. There are no parental controls or VPN configuration setting at the router level. 

Verify that you have connected to the Internet and obtained full Internet access prior to connecting with the VPN - e.g., check your email, browse to a few websites.
