I just get TV and phone installed about a week ago. I already had fios for almost 2 years. The internet was connected via Cat5e to the OPN. Well, during the install I found out that I had to use the actiontec router because of the coax and replace my Linksys 80211n router. Not a big deal since I knew I could still use it as a wireless access point. Now heres the part that gets tricky. I run a complete network in my house with domain controllers, dhcp and a custom IP range. Once the actiontec router was installed it used the default ip range 192.168.1.xx so this screwed up my whole network. To get my network back to normal I had to change the ip range on the actiontec to my custom range. Before doing this I noticed that the coax stb devices were receiving an Ip and using QOS settings. Didn't really pay musch attention figuring that the boxes would receive an address from DHCP. After resetting the cable boxes they all have their own address in my custom range and they show up as coax with the correct address on the actiontec. I am still using the actiontec as the gateway and mu 802.11n as an access point. DHCP is from the server.
Here is my issues:
1. STB lock up and you can not change channels or access the guide. Must be unplugged for it to work again,
2. Get error that syays cannot access hub. Try agai n in 30 seconds and it works.
Everythinh else works fine otherwise: VOD, guide etc
I think this is due to the boxes dropping their leases or not being set up as QOS. I have tried to set up a reservation in DHCP but it gets rejected by the box.
Does anyine know how to set up the STB's manully for static IP's and QOS. Any info on this topic would be appreciated.
