Wireless signal really poor

My FIOS wireless internet signal is really poor. I'm talking won't go across the room. If there is more than one wireless computer using the internet the whole sytem crashes or slows to a crawl. Several calls and on line tune ups did not solve the problem. I purchased an extened range antenna and that did not help. With my old broadband router (Also verizon) I could work anywhere in the house. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your router might need to be replaced if your having trouble with wireless in the same room. Have you tried the Verizon Connection Wizard software? http://www.verizon.com/connectionwizard/

Verizon has an optimize program that may help, it helped with mine somewhat. Our old routers (D-link & Belkin) seemed to work better with my wireless than the Verizon router and I'm looking into 'bridging' one of my old routers with the Verizon router. It can also be RF interference...what other electronics do you have between your laptop and your router (i.e.-cordless telephones, stereos, amplifiers, etc)?

Any of your computers happen to have 2.4Ghz processors? A computer with a 2.4Ghz clock, and Wi-Fi is a bad combination.

Why would you think that. Its not 2.4Ghz CPU. It has to do with wireless devices like Wireless phones, and wireless mouse and keyboards. Anything that uses the 2.4ghz wireless spectrum. Try to go into you router configs and change it from broadcast auto to channel 11

Why wouldn't it be the CPU? A 2.4 Ghz clock will actually produce very broadband interference. Square waves such as those commonly found in computer clocks are notorious as broadband intereference sources, so a 2.4 Ghz CPU is likely to make the entire 2.4Ghz band in the vicinity of the PC unusable. While other devices may be in the 2.4Ghz band, most are designed to users, as opposed to abusers, of the band, and operate on discrete frequencies within band (if they operate in the band at all. Cordless Telephones can be 49Mhz, 900Mhz, 2.4Ghz, or 5.8Ghz devices). You can generally get around interference from other users in the 2.4Ghz band by picking another channel within the band. You generally cannot escape broadband interference because it blankets the band.
