Apparently someone may be hacking Facebook SMS technology, specifically for Verizon customers. Earlier today I got a Facebook update to make a voice call to 911. I spoke with Verizon tech support and they insisted that this spam texting is a known issue but was affecting all phone providers and was not their problem - it was Facebook's problem. However, only Verizon customers seem to be affected so far from what Facebook discussions indicate on their security page. Facebook has not bothered to acknowledge the issue. Can someone please look into this? Some people are getting these texts ever few minutes. I've already sent news tips to 3 of my local news companies (Seattle Times, Komo 4, and Kiro 7) about this and other people on Facebook have been notifying their local news companies as well. It would be in Verizon's best interest to address this.
