I had a verizon fios tech here yesterday to install fios internet. Everything seemed to go well and when he finished he told me to call him if I had any questions. He left his phone number and went on his way. Shortly after he left, my wife called my cell phone and told me she was trying to call our home phone and it didn't work. I tried calling it and it would ring once and then disconnect. Tried an outgoing call and I got a lot of clicking noise on the line. I called the tech twice and left messages but got no return call. The next day (today) I called repair service and they told me that someone would call back to schedule a day when they could return to fix the problem. I really didn't like the sound of that because the last time I had a repair issue I was told it would take 5 days to get a tech to come out. I decided to investigate the problem myself. I looked at the wiring the tech did and saw where he hooked up my phone service to the fios box but I was also still connected to the old copper cable too. I went out to the network interface and disconnected my phone line from the copper cable. Tried my phone again and it worked. That was apparently the problem. My phone line was apparently connected to the fiber and copper at the same time. Honest mistake but I wonder why he gave me his phone number if he wasn't going to return my calls. Now I'm waiting to see how long it takes for Verizon repair to contact me. My guess would be five days.
This issue is one example as to why I am so reluctant to order Fios TV.
