I am having trouble connecting to my work vpn. I never get the connection. Is Verizon blocking this type of activity? Anything else? My vpn is a Cisco SSL VPN.

Verizon does not prevent, nor block, users from using VPN's. Neither do the default settings of the routers that Verizon customers receive.
Using a VPN requires 3rd party software, and sometimes hardware, that, when used, changes the default settings of the router.
So, either your router configurations are not correct, and in that case you may need to reset them to default settings by pressing in and holding the reset hole located on the side of the router where there wires plug in, for at least 15 seconds, then waiting for all the lights to turn green again, then try again to set it up, or
you are not doing it right or complete, and in that case you would need to call your works' IT people to check your set-up.
If you need to talk to Verizon Tech support, call 1-888-553-1555. The premium service, Expert Care, may be able to assist you if your work IT people cannot. The default access to your router is 192.168.1.1, username = admin, password = password1
