Since we moved into our own home last year I have not been able to program Verizon Fios remote control to adjust my bedroom's 32" flatscreen Emerson TV/DVD combo volume. I was using the tv remote to adjust volume and power off tv, and Fios remote for everything else. Shortly after moving, a new puppy destroyed the tv's remote control, and I resorted to physically going to the tv to adjust the volume. THEN I discovered I could program Fios remote control to adjust the STB's (Motorola Q1P2500-3 ) volume!! Woo hoo!! But this morning, the Fios remote acts/behaves/shows as if it is adjusting the volume on the tv screen, but it isn't, the volume stays same level. I've checked the tv's volume, it's working fine. I checked if somehow I had wrong remote control of the 5 in the house. Replaced the batteries. I re-programmed remote (the one controls 4 device options) STB OK 955 STB etc. I got so hung up on the volume issue, that it 'dawned' on me to check the power key...uh oh! When I press the power key, the STB key lights up, tv screen goes to the "Press Menu or power off tv" screen, but I can still hear the tv sound!! Dang it, did i mess up the power key, or was it already messed up when I discovered the volume problem? Don't know that answer. The remote and the STB are acting like they are communicating with each other. So I re-set the remote (STB OK 900), and re-programmed again for STB volume. Still not adjusting the volume (although the screen says it is). This was a STB volume question. Now it's a volume and sound, when sound shouldn't be there, problem, but which one isn't doing what it's suppose to. Lessee, probably last time the remote control, controlled the STB volume was oh, like 4 or 5am this morning...about 9am, it wasn't. Took me till noon, to realize the STB power problem.
Is this a Fios remote or STB problem? (or a '3 hours of sleep', it's me, problem?). I should just go down the road and exchange the remote right?
Maybe I should've started out with asking to find that one Emerson tv code that is out there to program the tv. I know one exists, because I had a programmed Fios remote before we moved. I kept remote and tv together during the move. Then we moved, literally down the street, took our Fios equipment with us, and had an install tech here almost 9 hours that day. He couldn't get this tv programmed afterwards. Then we got a puppy, and then....
Using the STB volume is fine with me, but maybe I should try to find way of ordering a replacement remote for the tv. I don't even mind that I couldn't completely power off the tv, at least the screen went dark the tv appeared and sounded as if it was off (no sound..ha!). And it wasn't a problem going to the tv to adjust sound or turn off, until we raised the tv, and can't see the top of it to see the control buttons, therefore it's a reach feel for the control keys and then count over to the volume controls, or else you've started a channel scan if press the wrong one! Have I already ask "What happened?" (oh ..buying 1st home, and getting a new puppy last year, that's what happened..lol).
I think I'll just unplug it all...is there a reset? I'm joking of course. I'm sure someone reading this, had a solution by line 5 of this post. It's one of 3 things...the remote, the STB, or me..ok maybe 2 of 3 or 4 things, add the tv in the loop, but it's volume and power are working.
Thank you in advance for your attention and suggestions to this matter....Ya'll were soooooooooooooo very very helpful and spot on with my laptop virus last week!! Sorry so wordy...just tryin' to explain the situation clearly as I can.

(ps..Now it's 'dawned' on me to power off STB at the box...hmm ok...same thing happens, tv sound still on. I don't know any more than I did before. Wait, are there volume controls on the box? jus sec...no, I don't see any. this is funny..really it is...) I'm gonna make sure I un-programmed and programmed remote correctly when I started messing with it.)
