For a few weeks now, I have not been able to upload files larger than about 750KB to the internet - meaning I can't email them from Outlook, I can't upload pictures to Facebook, Shutterfly, videos to YouTube - anything. All of the programs that I use that currently upload files for me (i.e. SugarSync, Picasa, etc) all come back with errors (unable to upload the files). It doesn't matter what type of file it is. I can try uploading PDF's to Google, but if it's over about 750KB, it does not work and just produces an error.
Background - I run three machines on my home network. 1. PC wired LAN running Vista, 2. Laptop Wireless running XP, and 3. iPhone 4. I noticed that there was an error because I was able to upload files using my phone's 3G network, but as soon as I switched over to my home wireless network - files would not upload and I would get errors. Then I noticed I was having the same problem sending larger emails from my Outlook via Yahoo. I have in the past been able to do this, and sometime in the last few weeks have had this issue. I've even tried using Yahoo online and cannot attach files to documents as they will not upload correctly. I paid for the Yahoo service to have the ability to send 20MB files. Never been an issue before.
I have been on with Verizon LiveChat twice now for a total of over 5-6 hours. They have not been any help and have put it in for a network tech to contact me, but that didn't happen either. They have checked all of the same things that I did - restarting computer, resetting the router, unplugging the router, then also replacing the router after the first LiveChat session. They have even tried controlling my desktop and have had no success. I've tested my upload/download speeds and my downloads are about 25MB, but when the upload speed test attempts - it fails. I get an error from even speedtest.net. Sometimes I'm able to get the test to work - and it will say some really low number (usually less than 8MB), but even then, I'm not able to upload anything. http://www.speedtest.net/result/893077516.png
I do have Norton 360 running on the PC and laptop, however, I've tested it by completely turning off the firewalls/antivirus and uninstalling it completely, still to no avail - unable to upload files. All of the Verizon techs that I've spoken with seem to think that it's an issue with my computers because they have reset the routers and reset the hardline or whatever terminology they use - but it still doesn't work. The only thing in common with these machines is the network and our internet service.
If it's just a fluke, I don't know, but something with haywire with our Auto Pay account last month to Verizon as well, and my credit card that has been used for two years to pay this bill each month - it didn't process for some reason about the same time that this issue must have started. Tech support tells me there is no relation but we rarely have issues with our Verizon service, to have two instances at the same time is very out of the ordinary.
I would appreciate any help/suggestions given. Also - I usually run Chrome, but have the same issues with IE8. All software is up-to-date.
