Slow FIOS download speeds in Northern NJ

Hi,

I have 25/25 FIOS and just moved to another location 5 miles away with the same 25/25 service. I did a few speed tests when the installer left and everything was fine, I was seeing the full 25/25 basically or a little more.

Fast forward a few days and I ran some at night and I noticed my download is horrifically slow, even to Verizon's own speedtest and all local servers except one on speedtest.net. I'm routinely getting 30 down 25 up in the morning, but only 2-8 down (but still 25 up) at night.

Has anyone else in the area noticed this or is this a local thing? Should I call and will anything get done? If I'm getting 6 mbps at night and paying for 25 I will just go back to Optimum.

I am having similar issues. For the past few days my page load speeds have been painfully slow. I did a speed check and here are my results:

Download Speed: 1279 kbps (159.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 13864 kbps (1733 KB/sec transfer rate)

My package is supposed to be 25/25.

I have confirmed this is affecting my office as well, which happens to have a business FIOS account.

Well, its 2:30 am now and I have 30 mbps download now magically. Someone needs to upgrade their infrastructure...

Must have fixed the issue in North Jersey, for a week now been getting 30 Down 25 Up all day and night wired,and about 25 down 16 up wireless,could not be happier.

I am jersey city and Fios internet has been very slow since Friday 2/12/2011 I am getting 1.5 Mbps of download speed instead of getting the usual 15 to 19.

Is anyone experiencing the same thing?

I live in central NJ, and have been experiencing slow download speeds for a week.

I have rebooted the router and ONT, tested from three different PCs, and am getting the same results.

Verizon is sending me a new router, but I don't think that will help.

I have 15/5 service and am experiencing 300 to 500Kbps download and 5 Mbps upload, when testing to the FIOS NJ speed test server.

Now here is where it gets interesting, when I test to NY City based speed test servers from other speed test providers, as well as speed test servers located nearby, but not in the NY City area.

Perhaps Verizon needs to take a look at its backbone network in NJ and NY area?

"Faster" to sites outside of NY / NJ doesn't do me any good, as most sites will route you through the NY area.

I also tested via other services, and got consistent results, ie, slow to NJ /NY and "fast" to other locations.

I'm having the exact same problem in Tinton Falls, NJ. Got Fios installed in February and it ran perfect until about 3 days ago. Suddenly I was getting constant lag spikes 50-1000ms and then I did a speed test on verizon's site and keep getting .6mb down and 5-6mb up. It's completely unusable. If this continues I'm switching back to cable. I tried every, hard modem / box resets and to no avail....

I went through the same steps as the previous poster. They are currently sending me a new router... but like the previous poster stated suddenly this past weekend my internet speeds went back to normal after I complained to the tech support on multiple occasions. That is very strange that more than 3 people in the same area had horrible downloads for over a week and then suddenly the speeds go right back to normal, with no change on the clients end. Could it be that Verizon was upgrading thier services and instead of giving all of the customers in our area discounts for the month, they just hoped that nobody noticed it? Either way verizon gave me a discount and now I'm finally getting my speed back. All in all, I'm happy again... for now.

I have been told by Tech Support that it would take about two weeks to fix this issue on Verizon servers. I had to contact Billing dept to get a credit.
