How do I allow Echolink to use UDP ports 5198 and 5199. Appears to be blocked by personal firewall and I can't get allow exceptions to work.
Is someone trying to connect into your computer using Echolink, or are you trying to make a connection to someone else's computer?
If someone is trying to connect to your machine from the outside, you may want to look at your Wireless router as provided by the FiOS service. The router will block connections it isn't told about coming in by design, and what you need to do besides checking your computer's firewall, is to Port Forward. If you're making the connection from your end to another person or server, then the person on that end has to make sure they've done Port forwarding and firewall checks, as needed.
If Echolink is being blocked by a personal firewall, that has nothing to do with the FIOS router.
Disable the personal firewall and see if it works.
If you need to allow incoming connections through the FIOS router, follow the instructions here:

Windows Firewall is OFF and Personal Firewall is OFF. Router has been reset to allow incoming.
I have no control of Verizon Internet Security Suite.
Problem I have now is MacAfee Firewall will not stay on. It shows it is on but, when I go to setting to check it show that firewall is off I go to turn on and it keeps going off. When I go to windows firewall to turn it on an error message comes on. ( Message is can’t change some setting error 0x80070424)
Operating system is window 7
Also meant to say that I am unable to reset the firewall to defaults. There are two places I have found where firewall settings can be changed. One is on general settings and just sets everything to default. The other is on the firewall page where individual settings can be changed. When the firewall is turned off, the settings are greyed out and can't be changed. When I attempt to make a change during those brief times when the firewall is on, it simply turns itself off and the settings are inacessible.
I have spent many hours the last two days working with techs who can’t solve the problem.
This appears to me a common problem if I search the internet.
Is there a solution?
What can I do next Thanks

What exactly did you do in the router to "reset it to allow incoming"?
I would not believe there is any router setting that needs changing as echolink should establish the connection from your machine to the repeater so you should never receive any unsolicited traffic
What error do you get?
Unfortunately kind of hard to try this one as I have no valid call sign so can't really install the software though have a friend up in Ontario who uses it so can bounce questions off of him.
