Are you sure they made the change on their end...sometimes it takes a few days.
Are you using Wi-FI? Have you rebooted the ONT? How about having a rep check your profile?
I've a similar problem. The speed won't go over 27 mps when i try connection through the wifi router and i'm sitting right next to it. I get the same speed in the next room so not sure if interference is a problem. Converting to WPA2 didn't help either.
Another thing i noticed is the 'green connectivity' bars on my laptop go amber once in a while. At that point my remote desktop connection disconnects and i've to redo the remote desktop connection all over. Its a painfull process to reconnect.
It would be great if someone could tell us what we need to do to get 50 bps
and I point to http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/Why-your-Wi-Fi-is-slow/td-p/534451
Thanks for the reply!
I read through the post. Here is the summary of what i need to do
1] Run on WPA2
2] Use routers rev F and above.
I completed step 1.
I see that my wireless router is Rev E. Why did Verizon give be a Rev E when i asked for 50mbps and the installation happened a month back?
Is this some evil plan to get all new customers to upgrade? 🙂
Please let me know what my options are.
thanks
My service plan says Verizon FiOS QuantumSM 50/25 Mbps Internet.
I just spoke to a tech rep on the phone. He claimed that hardware encryption plays no role in boosting speed.
He was ready to ship me another Rev E router just in case the new one worked.
Is it that the phone reps don't get/want to read forum posts?
WPA2 is done in the most modern hardware, while WEP is often emulated in software. YES IT EFFECTS speed. With later version supporting Wireless N full speed is only supported with WPA2.
