FTP stopped working

I have been a FIOS 70/35 customer for 4 happy months with no problems. 2 days ago my ability to login via ftp to my external website of a domain that I own (not a Verizon website) stopped and hasn't worked since. I was using a PC hardwired into the Verizon modem, not wireless. I tried it on another PC with a different operating system with the same result.

I tried FTP with my iPad and it failed when going over the home wireless but when I switched to LTE and went over the cellular network (AT&T's), I had no problem logging in. My Verizon supplied modem is an Actiontec MI424WR.

Help please!

Just as a test can you access this public site? ftp.nso.edu

And out of curiosity are you using an FTP client such as FileZilla? Another suggestion would be to turn off your firewall and see if you can connect.

What port do you use to connect now?

I can get to ftp.nso.edu but it requires no login. It is the login step of ftp that I cannot get past.

Again, on the iPad, which has no firewall or anti-virus, I can login if I use the cellular network but not if I use the Verizon router. I turned the firewall off on my the router itself and the PC but that did not help.

I tried using ftp from the command line from a Windows 7 and VIsta computer as well as using FileZilla. The results did not change.

I also tried both active and passive ftp. The results did not change.

A friend tried to access it with his PC not on a Verizon internet connection. He had no trouble.

I experienced exactly the same thing with FTP NOT working when I'm trying to use my FIOS wireless network. I've had to start using my Droid as a hotspot so I can connect that way. Not cool...and not acceptable either. What's up Verizon? Why can't we access FTP using our FIOS wireless networks?

FTP is still working fine over here to my dedicated server.

Would you guys be able to give a copy/paste of the FTP client's console to see where the connection attempt is stalling? FTP issues tend to relate to Passive vs Active FTP, but that also relates mostly to file transfers.

Also, I've heard some firmware updates may be going around for the routers if memory serves correct. Make sure that a setting for FTP ALG has not suddenly appeared or has been enabled by an update. Also, double check the firewall on the router, too.

While download is not possible using Internet Explorer the user just views the site on Internet, clicks on View Source, copy and oaste to Notrpad, and change to HTM(L). Is there any previous registration or ownership by Verizon?

If Verizon is used as hosting is the website still in thr public domain?
