Why is my WPA2 key visible on Verizon's servier? Granted, it is in My Verizon but isn't the point of a secuirty key encryption and shouldn't it be hidden? I think that is a breach of security.

Many here agree with you on this, as does Verizon. You can disable this option using the Menu on the STB/DVR. Make sure you have at least IMG 1.9.4 loaded to see this option, which lets you decide on whether the key is visible or invisible.
Thanks for the quick reply. I don't have Verizon cable TV so no STB. I only use VZ for internet. I couldn't find any option in the router to hide it.
Just to clarify do you mean Wireless settings - wireless status - WPA2 xxxxxxxxxxxxxx? I guess there is no hide option since the router login is password protected but I do agree with your opening statement. I also peeled the label off the router as soon as i got it MI424WR REv I for similar reasons.

I believe he is refering to the "My Verizon" website, where your SSID and Wireless Key are available under Accounts & Services. There is no way to hide that display.

Armond, where is this setting on the STB/DVR? I know there is a setting there to secure the display on the STB/DVR itself of the encryption key using a user password, but I have never seen anything anywhere that would allow me to control the display of the encryption key on MyVerizon, which is what I believe the OP is referring to.
To the OP: from my perspective I don't see any security issue in my password being displayed on MyVerizon. After all I have to sign into my account first to see it, so once I am there, what is the security exposure? Your wireless connection is encrypted so it seems secure to me.
Thanks.

I was referring to the setting that controls the display on the STB. In fact I was not even aware that this information was available on MyVerizon. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks Walt, I had to scroll down to see what you meant on the my verizon page. To me this is a lesson that I should make my password more secure for the site. +1 Kudo!

There isn't one.
make you router password as long and complicated as possible if it worries you. Then someone would have to break into your house to be able to find the wireless password.
Even on my phone there is an option to show the keys in the clear. The only way to do that is to first break into the phone via whichever security method is employed
