My DVR box is running constantly. Is there any way to make it stop? Or is this a sign it's going to crash?

That is how a DVR works. If it isn't executing a user recording it is buffering and recording the last 2 channels. The DVR never stops running.
There's a hard drive inside and will always run. It's normal even when you turn it off. Only way to stop it completley is by unplugging the box when you don't want to use it, but doing so will always reset the box when you go to turn it back on and of course will take a few minutes.
