Can you watch FIOS DVR recorded shows from another DISTANT location?

I have both Direct Tv and Fios. I currently take my Direct TV DVR from my bedroom drive it 100 mile to a remote location in the woods and I can watch "Recorded" shows, Nothing Live or a stand alone TV with nothing but A/C power.

This works I know this to be 100% true.

Can I take a FIOS DVR and do the same thing or does in need the internet conection or fiber optic conection?

If this will not work, is the DVR really a DVR or just a form of "connection box".

Solution.....NO!!!

If there is no rg6 cable connected to the FIOS system receiver will not startup correctly and DVR is inaccessible.

I disconnected the FiOS input to the DVR and turned off the router. I could still view recorded shows. So my answer is yes, it will work.

But... If I was going to the woods it would be to get away from civilization. Do you really take a DVR with you?

The reason this worked for you is that you did not power the unit down. The STB needs a network to start up before it can play recorded content.

You are correct. My first test didn't allow for that.

Google Slingbox... its an amazing thing and not only can you watch your recording but you can watch your live TV anywhere. It is a 3rd party product though and has nothing to do with Verizon and I am not a verizon rep. Nor am I a slingbox rep To answer your original question, no you cannot view recordings remotely with the Verizon provided equipment, it is not possible unless you have 3rd party equipment like the Slingbox. This certainly will change soon since Direct TV and Dish are doing things like this, but the cable companies have not caught up.
