Black Box Spanish Subtitles appeared suddenly specially on HBO. It is on top of my closed captioning. How do i remove this ?
My best guess would be the connection you have between your STB and your TV is not an HDMI cable, and that you have Closed Captioning turned on for both your STB and TV. One is apparently set to the Spanish captions and the other English. So they are constantly battling each other on screen. The solution is to turn one of them off. To turn off the CC on the STB, press the * (CC) button repeatedly until the OSD reads Closed Captions: OFF. Or follow your TV instructions to turn off the TV's CC function. Leaving just one on will provide you with the captions you desire.
If my guess is wrong, there is also the possibility that your STB's DVS is on and can be shut off here:
Menu > Accessibility > DVS > OFF > OK > Exit
You may also have your TV's Text service turned on, but again you will have to use your TV's instructions to make sure that it is turned off (if you even have that option).
Or it could be a regional issue where the CC is malfunctioning and Verizon or HBO need to fix it.
