Just bought a new HD TV (an LG).
Hooked up the HDMI cable but "No Signal".
Do I also need to hook up the "old" video cable?

No. Assuming everything worked on an old TV, only 3 possible causes for "no signal" come to mind.
1. Your new TV is on the wrong HDMI input. Use your TV remote and try cycling through the inputs.
2. A bad cable.
3. The new TV is faulty.
