Apparently there is a TV service outage in my area that started 2 days ago. That's not the end of the world - these things happen. But the communication from Verizon - OY VEY! I don't know if it could possibly have been worse.
At first there was no indication of an outage. Verizon.com showed no outage, no notifications - nothing. When I contacted Verizon using the live chat, suddenly there was an outage. Fortunately, the outage was going to be resolved in a few hours. So no biggie - I went on with my life.
Then a few hours passed and I got an email that said the outage had been resolved and service was restored. Hurray! Except...I still had no service. Back to Live Chat, where after 20 min, the CSR stated that the outage was still in effect and service would be restored in a few hours. So a few hours later, once again, verizon.com/outage states that there is no outage. Except...I still had no service.
Once again, back to Live Chat. Now the CSR says that service will be restored the following morning. OK! So off to bed I go, still with no service. In the morning, verizon.com/outage says that there is no outage. Except...I STILL HAVE NO SERVICE. So another 20 min on Live Chat and the CSR says there is no outage and they'd like to reboot my system. OK! Except...I STILL HAVE NO SERVICE.
It's been 2 days. I've been paying for this in so many more ways than one. And I still have no service. So I called the automated phone line (1-800-VERIZON). Now it says there is an outage and it will be restored by 5 PM today.
I'm betting that at 5:30 PM, the update to this post will be...
I STILL HAVE NO SERVICE.
Thanks a whole lot, Verizon. For a company that provides communication services, the communication has been far less than stellar.
If you're going to tell people to go to verizon.com/outage to get more information about an outage, maybe you should have some information available. "No outages" is somewhat misleading when there is, in fact, an outage that has gone unresolved for 2 days, and is still as yet unresolved.
