remote access enabled

My actiontec MI424-WR was recently reset. Now when I log into the router, many of the devices on the main screen show -

remote access: enabled

The router was reset so there are no port forwarding rules in play - or anything like that. How do I set remote access to disabled for all devices? Thanks, Marcy

In the future I would suggest advanced- config. file- there should be an option to backup your settings which comes in handy if you have to hard reset the router.

I just saw this and I have remote access enabled too on my STB's and my wife's IPHONE.

I'm not sure where this is set or how to disable it. I have a newer Router too.

I have a feeling this could be showing up if the router is detecting an open service on the device. For example, if a NAS has a WebUI, or if a phone is responding to TR-069 requests. Just a thought.

Smith, I've looked through the router for anything pointing to the IPHONE or that IP address and nothing suggests it.

What is a TR-069 request? We have other apple devices and none of them are showing up with remote enabled.

I'm not even sure what that feature does.

I had a very similar problem with my ActionTec MI424WR-GEN2, hw rev F, firmware 20.20.8 FIOS router. I had carefully checked off all the remote administration boxes under advanced settings, but was shocked to find out I could get into the router via port 8080 from work!

I read through the various posts on the internet, did many hard resets, and tried to put on a an advanced firewall rule in place. As it says, "Remote Access settings Override Firewall Settings," so no joy!

I have forwarded port 80 and 443, as well as a couple more, and the only thing I found to work was to forward all the "bad" ports (23, 8023, 992, 8080) to some bogus port nowhere.

I think this is a firmware bug, but a rather nasty one I think!

I'll have to put some traffic filters (firewall) behind the firewall now.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Wow that is crazy. I have the same firmware and cannot connect to my router from the Internet via port 8080.

I know you said you tried to reboot, etc. have you tried to reset to factory defaults?

Under Firewall settings what are "General" at?

Any port forwarding rules?
