imgur.com / DNS

This morning I was unable to resolve imgur.com (web browsers, nslookup, everything).

I disabled my phone's wifi and was able to load the website without issue.

I double checked on downforeveryoneorjustme.com before going further.

I set my PC's DNS to 4.2.2.2 and 8.8.8.8 and I was able to resolve the website immediately.

My actiontec was getting the following for DNS servers from DHCP before I manually configured the aformentioned public servers:

68.237.161.12
71.250.0.12

I just successfully resolved using the Verizon DNS servers you list.

Must have been brief. It's resolving using the FiOS DNS on my system now.

That's not uncommon. If the domain's DNS is down briefly, this can happen.

It wasn't just you. Imgur resolves to an NTT IP address and all NTT connections were hosed this morning. I saw the same thing. us.ntt.net, i.imgur.com, and many others. I think Verizon was doing something with NTT as http://internethealthreport.com/ showed > 50% packet loss and latency time >1k ms this morning. It seemed to roll eastward starting out west then finally making it out east.
