FIOS TV Infinitv FIOS DVR

Hello fellow consumer TV professionals!

Here's my issue, currently have DirecTV STB with Windows 7 Media Center that provide stellar DVR capability.

Also have FIOS TV with a STB on a 30-day 'trial.'

Apparently the FIOS STB and Windows 7 MCE do not get along as I can't get them working in sync.

Having scoured the Verizon forums it appears I need an InfiniTV product and a Verizon CableCard to be able to use FIOS TV and Windows 7 MCE.

Before I spend money on an InfiniTV product ($200 or $300 depending on your requirements) and the CableCard if I had a Verizon FIOS DVR am I able to copy content to my PC for editing purposes? I'm not talking about premium content move channels I'm only interested in editing 'regular' FIOS channel content like NBC Sports, BEin USA sport, local channels.

I luv my DirecTV setup but would really like to consolidate my monthly TV/Internet/Phone billing with Verizon.

In order to watch Fios tv you need to have a device that is compatible with an M type cable card. Whatever you do with your content after that is probably against Verizon terms of service but they can't really stop you. Even though they can't stop you from editing content, they surely will not help you to do it. (I am not a Verizon rep)

I've spent today messin' with the FIOS STB and Windows 7 MCE but have gone back to the DirecTV/Windows MCE setup for now as it does what I need it to do.

I can watch FIOS TV all day as long as I don't need to record anything I might want to keep or edit.

From surfing the Forum it seems like even if I had a FIOS DVR I would not be able to transfer its content (that which is not premium content such as HBO, et al) to my Win7 PC and be able to edit and keep it for keepsakes.

Do you have any experience with FIOS DVR to Win7 PC issues?

yeah don't waste your time trying to get content off of a Verizon DVR. you can have another device like a TiVo or a computer with a cable card reader but take the Verizon provided equipment out of the equation.
