Options to watch Fios subscribe channels without renting HD BOX for 13.00

I have ordered Fios but do not want to pay the 13.00 fee for the HD set top box. I am trying to keep my internet and cable bill under $100.00 each month after taxes or $90.00 if possible. I tried to see could I get a digital adapter but the Fios rep said that i have to have a set top box on one tv and only can get the digital adapter on a second tv. I live in a one bedroom apartment i only need one connection for my living room. I have a roku player in my bedroom if i need something to watch at night. What are my options?

Purchase a TiVo with a lifetime subscription. Up front cost will be a bit much but you'll own the box and won't have to pay anything after it. Plus you'll get the best DVR out there. Not sure if Verizon charges for the cable card though. If they did, it would be a much lesser charge than for a verizon set top box.

Are you sure it's $13 for a regular HD STB? It's only $6.99 in my area. You said you only needed one, correct?

The cost varies by when you subscribed and what type of incentive you got. My HD STB is $11.99. It may vary by area also, but I wouldn't expect the area to account for that big a difference.
