LFE Audio - STB connected via coaxial digital cable. NO BASS

I have connected my STB to my receiver via coax digital audio because my other optical inputs are used up. I get sound when watching HD content but the Suborder (LFE channel) plays no bass at all!! Even when watching a movie like Dark Knight. The TV is connected via HDMI to the STB but I don't think that matters. I know my 5.1 is working, when watching BlueRay or music.

Is there a setting I need to change to make the coax 5.1 instead of 5.0

Have you tried using an optical cable temporarily to test out the sound to see if the bass channel works with it and rule out that its the coaxial digital output causing the issue?

Also make sure your stb is set to surround. Menu > Settings > Audio > Surround

I went and disconnted the HDMI and connted the TV via componant cable. Now i hear bass some bass coming from the sub. I wonder if there an in issue with HDMI and optical/coax digital output connected at the same time.

I tried to access the diagnosic menu, i got to it but was unable to edit it.

That shouldn't be the issue if you have the HDMI going directly to the tv. If the HDMI was going to the recevier then it might cause problems on some receivers, but hdmi to the tv shouldn't cause an issue like you are having unless something is really messed up in the set top box.

You could always swap the box out for a new one and see if it solves everything.

What I would do is connect a optical cable to test the sound. If it works then its the coax line. If it still doesnt work then there is an issue with the stb's audio inputs/outputs.
