Adding another router

I have a primary router for my fios connection on the main floor of the house. This router provides wireless to the whole house and gets the internet from a coax connection. In my office on the first floor I use my main pc via wireless but I do have a coax connection here and would like to connect another fios router and run a lan cable to my primary pc to actually use the speeds I pay for. Is this possible and if so how? Thanks..

You can get a wired connection to your PC on the floor using the coax running to that location and a MoCA adapater. Do a search for Actiontec ECB2500C. Amazon and numerous other providers sell them.

The ECB2500C is plug-and-play, no configuration required. It converts the coax input to an Ethernet output. I'm using one and I get full 75/35 output at the other end of our house from where my Actiontec router is located.

If you need better wifi on the first floor, in addition to connecting your PC via hard wire, you can also connect a second router to the output of the MoCA adapter.

There is a newer version that repeats the wifi signal as well.

eljefe, thanks a million! That is exactly what I was looking for. I talked with several people in my IT department and networking department too and no one suggested that converter! It is exactly what I am looking for and will save me from running wire through my house. Thank you!!!!!
