STB remote becomes unresponsive when home network becomes active

I have had techs on the phone and to my house a few times on this one but still have the problem. I have 5 HD STB's in the house and 1 of them stops responding to the remote every now and then.

The picture is fine and the buttons on the STB work - just the remote stops responding. This seems to only happen when there is a lot of network activity on the home network but it only happens in the one room. Swapping boxes does nothing - the problem remains in the room.

I would be very appreciative of any thoughts.

The RF signal from a network is different than the IR (light) that comes from a remote. If you swapped the stb and the issue stays in the room, then it is something in the room. Is there anything in front of the cable box. 1st Did you try a differnet remote? If still having the same issue with different remote, there is something blocking the light from the remote.

See if it is the TV.

Note what channel you are on. Turn the TV off (Not the cable box) use the remote to change the channel. Turn the TV back on. If the channel changed the TV is to bright an is blocking the light from the remote. Try turning down the brightness on the TV or reposition the STB. If you have a newer cable box Verizon can send a IR extender. You can check the connection on the back of STB it see if the IR extender connection is there,

If not the TV then see how remote responds with the light in the room off.
