Would it be advisable to uninstall Comcast's security software and replace it prior to being hooked up to Verizon.
Depends. Comcast's suite will likely stop working shortly after you shut down their service. When you remove it, if you aren't using Verizon's suite, I would personally advise using programs such as Avast! AV, Microsoft Security Essentials, Panda Cloud AV, or AVG Anti-virus. All four of those programs are free and tend to be pretty good.
