VOIP SETUP

Hi: I am going to attempt to locate an Amateir radio as a fellow amateurs home in the next town and control it over the interent from my hoe ion Cranston. The reason is a ban on antennas at my apartment. I have FIOS and he has Verizon DSL. While the devices (Remote Rig) will work on either, thye issue becomes the dynamic IP addresses that will cause me to lose conectivity when his Actiontec router is rebooted.

The question is to avoid this, how can the built in DMZ server be used to provide connectivity after a reboot. I have included a link to the REMOTE RIG configuration utility manual for you to see. Make your life easy. use some remote software. I recommend Teamviewer. It is free. You will not have to worry about IP addresses or DMZ's. There are several other pieces of software that do the same thing.

That is allk well and good, but the VOIP is for 2 Radio Control Devices that transfer digitized voice 2 ways as well as data commands. The idea is NO computers are involved and these devices serve as a link for radio control operations. That being said, it does not appear your suggestion is relevant to what I am trying to do since both these devices operate through their respective routers without a computer or human interface.

Get a free dynamic dns service such as no IP

Personally I would use some remote access service such as the afore mentintioned teamviewer or even built in mstsc (rdp)

In reality when the router reboots it typically gets the same IP address back when it restarts. You normally would have to power off the router for several hours or issue a release and power off to get a new address
