Using an old router to expand wireless coverage

I'm trying to get wi-fi signal on the opposite side of my house from the FIOS router. I have an old wireless router that I'm trying to use as a booster. How can I connect it so it works? My networking skills are limited (enough to be dangerous).

You will need to connect the second router in a wired fashion and use it merely as a wireless access point (WAP).. The method depends on (1) what type of outlet (if any) is currently available at the other end of the house, and (2) if an existing outlet doesn't exist, what kind of cables you can run to that location (Ethernet preferred).

Ideally you will have an Ethernet connection at the remote location. If not, run one and then connect the second router as a WAP (details below in first reference). If however there's already a coax outlet at the remote location, you can fit a MoCA adapter to the coax outlet that provides Ethernet connectivity (details below in second reference).
