Just relocate the router to a working coaxial jack upstairs and preferably by a bunch of devices that you can wire up. Best solution to this over trying to boost the signal AND make it travel upwards.
It sounds to me like your best bet will be a second router / wifi adapter upstairs. If you have coax already running to upstairs you can use an ECB2200 MoCA adapter upstairs to feed the second router or wifi adapter.
