Actiontec M424-wr and USB port

I've seen a handful of threads about this, but mostly older (circa 2010). Just checking once more to see if anyone has figured a work-around. Has anyone figured out if the USB port on the Actiontec M424-wr is at all usable? If so, what can it be used for? And what needs to be done to enable the port?

2) Verizon has announced the intention to enable it in the future for some functions.
